Position Title
Chief Manager- Production (Power Cables)
Position Summary
This position will be responsible for overseeing the entire operations of the cable/ conductor manufacturing facility, ensuring efficient and safe production processes, maintaining product quality, and meeting organizational goals related to cost, output, and profitability.
The role also involves leading a large team, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
Operations Management:
- Oversee the daily manufacturing operations of Power cables.
- Plan and execute production schedules to meet customer demands and ensure timely delivery.
- Optimize processes for cost efficiency, including raw material utilization, machine downtime, and labor costs.
- Implement best practices for continuous improvement in production, reducing waste, and improving overall productivity.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, motivate, and manage a team of production managers, engineers, supervisors, and operators.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and quality.
- Set clear performance goals, provide regular feedback, and develop the team through coaching and training.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM) and customer specifications.
- Implement and monitor quality control systems to ensure the highest levels of product quality.
- Drive root cause analysis for any quality issues and ensure corrective actions are taken.
Maintenance & Asset Management:
- Oversee the preventive and corrective maintenance of plant machinery and equipment.
- Ensure optimal uptime of machinery and production lines through effective asset management strategies.
- Manage spare parts inventory and liaise with vendors for timely procurement of machine parts.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations in the plant.
- Drive initiatives to reduce accidents and incidents in the workplace.
- Ensure a safe and compliant working environment in line with local and global standards.
Cost Management & Budgeting:
- Develop and manage the plant’s operational budget, ensuring cost controls and efficiency improvements.
- Work on cost-reduction strategies in energy consumption, material procurement, and process improvements.
- Monitor KPIs related to cost per unit, efficiency, and profitability.
Supply Chain & Vendor Management:
- Collaborate with the supply chain team to ensure timely availability of raw materials (aluminium, steel core, etc.).
- Maintain relationships with key vendors and suppliers for raw materials and equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels and optimize stock management to avoid production delays.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure the plant complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Manage audits and implement necessary corrective actions.
Project Management
- Lead new initiatives for capacity expansion, equipment upgrades, and process innovations.
- Oversee CAPEX projects related to the plant, ensuring timely execution within the allocated budget.
Stakeholder Management:
- Liaise with senior management and other departments (Sales, Finance, HR) to align plant operations with overall business goals.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, including customers, regulatory bodies, and local authorities.
Critical Success Factors - Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics, Polymer, or related field.) or equivalent.
- 15+ years of experience in managing plant operations with at least 3 years as production Head
- Excellent understanding of production planning, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Kaizen).
- Experience in driving OEE to improve the efficacy and efficiency of products.
