Position Title

NPD Engineer- Conductor Testing

Purpose of Role

We are seeking a technically proficient and innovation-driven NPD Manager to lead the development of new overhead conductor products. This role involves managing the full product lifecycle—from concept to commercialisation—while ensuring compliance with international standards and alignment with market needs. A technical professional having 8+ years of experience in overhead transmission and distribution systems for designing the overhead conductors. Experience in design, development, testing, analysis, and implementation on HTLS / HPC conductors such as AL 59, ECO, ECO Max, ACSS, STACIR, GAP, and Composite technology. This role bridges engineering design, Manufacturing, quality, sales, and the business development team for policy formulation, bidding & tender support.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

• Design and development of new conductor types (AAC,  AAAC, AL59, ECO, ECO Max, ACSS, STACIR, GAP, and Composite technology) for power transmission and distribution.
• Conductor design by global standard method as well as in PLS CADD, including profile & stringing chart.
• Conduct benchmarking, feasibility studies, and material selection for new products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, manufacturing, sales, marketing, procurement & bidding, etc.) to define product specifications and performance targets.

• Risk analysis and regulatory compliance with respect to country/region-specific standards & specifications.
• Market analysis and customer-centric design.

• Oversee prototype development, testing, and validation in accordance with various national & international standards.
• Prepare and manage technical documentation as per the ISO standard procedures, including BOMs, design drawings, and Design History Files (DHF) for auditing purposes.
• Drive continuous improvement in product performance, cost-efficiency, and manufacturing capability.
• Liaise with certification bodies(BIS, CIGRE, IEEMA, CEA & IEEE) and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Identify and qualify vendors for raw materials and components for manufacturing/Typetesting.
• Monitor market trends and customer feedback to guide/lead product development & innovation.
• Mentor & upscale junior engineers and manage project timelines with budgets.

Critical Success Factors - Essential

• PLS CADD certified or trained
• Strong analytical and documentation skills
• Proven track record in launching successful new products and process innovations.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical/ Electronics/Mechanical/ Metallurgical) or equivalent.
• 7-15 years of experience in product development, preferably in the overhead conductor or transmission line industry.

Critical Success Factors - Desirable

• Knowledge of the Manufacturing process of Aluminium wire rods & conductors of different grades & technologies.
• Overview on National/International standards (IEC, ASTM, IS, BS, IEEE, CIGRE, ANSI, AS, ISO, CAN/CSA, etc.)
